Sediment Dams

• Green - DSAC V – NORMAL (Safe)

The 5-year Dam Safety inspection for the following flood/sediment control dams were performed in FY 2009 by the New Mexico, Office of the State Engineers:

1) Crow Canyon (Site 2A), and

2) Green Canyon (Site 1A).

The following recommendations were made for the dams: removal of woody vegetation around stilling basin walls and embankment, removal of debris around the intake structure, and repairs of various erosion rills and cattle tracks on the embankment. The U.S. Section of IBWC is currently performing maintenance and repairs at these dams. Both dams currently have a hazard potential classification of “Significant.”
